INTRODUCING MICRO CHP
The terms “cogeneration” and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) are synonyms for the simultaneous production of hot water and supplemental electricity for on-site use. Lochinvar’s Micro CHP solution is powered by an internal combustion engine. This makes them easy to install in a variety of commercial applications.
A Storage Tank is required for proper operation of the Micro CHP (µCHP) system. It ensures that any temporary drops in heat load below the output of the Power Unit do not cause the Power Unit to stop, and enables the µCHP system to service temporary heat loads beyond the output of the Power Unit. Two options are available, the standard Storage Tank and the Domestic Hot Water Tank (DHW).
The DHW Tank works in much the same way as the Storage Tank, with the addition of an indirect coil installed in the tank's interior. Potable water is passed through the coil allowing it to absorb heat stored in the tank by the µCHP.
Lochinvar Storage Tanks come standard with a built-in Storage Control which communicates with the µCHP system ensuring proper operation.
